Privacy Policy Club of Metalworking

Club of Metalworking is an initiative of Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken e.V. (hereinafter referred to as “VDW”). VDW takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and adheres to the statutory provisions and in particular also the regulations of data protection law.

1. Controller
VDW is the controller within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 7 EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please find more information about us in our imprint. You may reach our contact person for data protection issues at datenschutz@vdw.de.

2. General Information
The following statement will provide you with an overview of what type of personal data are collected in connection with our website for what purpose and on what legal basis. Personal data are all data relating to you personally, e.g. name, address, email address, user conduct. In addition, we will inform you on your rights towards us as the controller.

3. Data Processing on this Website
As a result of the mere informational use of this website, VDW will automatically collect and store information your browser transmits to us in the server log files. These data are technically necessary for us in order to show you this website and to guarantee stability and security (the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) Sentence 1 lit. f GDPR):

  • Browser type/version;
  • Operating system used;
  • Referrer URL (previously visited site);
  • Host name of the accessing computer (IP address);
  • Time of the server request; and
  • Name and URL of the accessed file as well as data volume transferred.

VDW will not attribute these data to specific persons and there will not be any merger of these data with other data sources. Once the data have been used for the above-mentioned purposes, VDW will delete the data.

4. Club of Metalworking
Via our website, you can become a member of the Club of Metalworking and benefit from interesting news from the realm of metal working. You will usually receive industry-specific information on trends, fairs and further topics by email every 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, we have exclusive benefits available for you. In order for us to send you the requested information, you have to register on our website and provide your express consent. We will collect the following data in the context of the registration:

  • Form of address
  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Company address
  • Industry and size of company
  • Position held within the company

Once the registration has been completed, you will receive an email from us in which we ask you to confirm your request – to obtain information from the realm of metal working – by clicking on a link (double-opt-in procedure). We will only enter your data into our system and send you the requested information once you have provided this confirmation. Art. 6 (1) Sentence 1 lit. a GDPR constitutes the legal basis for the processing of your personal data and sending of the requested information by email.

You have the right to withdraw this consent vis-à-vis VDW with effect for the future at any time. As a result of the withdrawal, you will leave Club of Metalworking and will not receive any further information from us by email. If you leave Club of Metalworking, we will erase your personal data in accordance with data protection laws.

Moreover, we will store the time as well as your IP address in the context of the registration. This is to prevent abuse. The legal basis in this respect is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR

5. Contact Form
You have the option to contact us via the contact form on our website. In order to process your request, it is required that you indicate a valid email address. In addition, we will store your IP address as well as the time of your request. This is to prevent abuse. The legal basis for such processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. It is also mandatory that you provide your name. You will give your express consent to such processing within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) Sentence 1 lit. a GDPR. You may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future. Once your request has been dealt with, we will delete the data in accordance with data protection law.

We use Google Analytics to analyse this website. Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). The information generated by the cookie on the use of this website are usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If the IP anonymization on this website is activated, however, your IP address will first be truncated by Google within the Member States of the European Union or in other countries that are signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases, the full IP address is transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. In addition to our website, we are present in various social media. At present, you may find us on Facebook, Instagram, Xing, LinkedIn and YouTube.

8. Cookies
Furthermore, cookies will be stored on your computer when you use our website.
